Golden High School Class of ’63
FROM THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAN —
Jacki Carothers, [known to our class as Jackie Lamberson] born in 1945,
passed away peacefully in her home in Pueblo, surrounded by her family
at the age of 69.
Jacki touched the lives of everyone she knew and was the glue that kept her family together. Always selfless, she continually put everyone ahead of herself. She was an exceptional mother, grandmother, daughter, friend and neighbor. Jacki was such an amazing person who never realized how truly great she was. She loved driving truck, which was her passion and lifelong career. She continued to run the U.S. Mail routes, which was started by her grandfather in 1955 up until her death on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014. Endlessly devoted to her family, she would often drive hundreds of miles to celebrate a birthday, attend her kids’ or grandkids’ sporting events, or just give some comfort when needed. Jacki was born in Hugo, spending her early years in Golden and her final years in Pueblo. Jacki was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Carothers; grandmother, Vera Lamberson; father, Jack Lamberson; stepfather, Sam Carra; granddaughters, Kindall and Megan Colbert; grandson, Garrett Carothers; uncle, Jim Lamberson; and best friend, Mary Lee Ford. She is survived by her mother, Martha Carra; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristi and Jim Wirt, Kelli and Randy Wentworth, Kim and Joe Colbert; grandchildren, Jessie (Hillary) and Justin Harris, Caylee and Sami Colbert, Zak Wentworth; and great-granddaughter, Lylah Harris; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Cheryl Lamberson; stepbrothers, Tony (Sheila), Bob, Jim; stepchildren, Dale and Deanna Hockett, Rick and Cindy, Jess and Jessi, Mike and Becky Carothers; and many beloved grandchildren. Jacki was a huge sports fan, who was famous for her Broncos pool and her crafts. Her interests were playing cards, cooking and bowling, just to name a few. She also loved her beloved pets, which were all either adopted or rescued. A memorial service is planned for Dec. 13 in Pueblo; details to be announced. In honor of Jacki’s memory, please do a random acts of kindness.
